HOUSE IN THE WOODS LOUVER SCREENS

A glimpse behind the scenes of louver screen fabrication for our House in the Woods, designed by MW Works.

A collaboration of wood and metal, the Interbay team crafted exterior window screens for The House in the Woods. The louver screens are made of clear mixed-grain western red cedar framed by four welded pieces of aluminum.

Using our in-house CNC to dado the wood frames in order to receive the slats, we achieved this angled interlocking application through two tooling passes, requiring custom-made 45 and 135 degree cutting knives. The screen panels feature both closed and open slats that will correspond with the function of the interior spaces behind them.

A massive achievement for the shop, this scope of work was made possible by the skilled hands of every wood and metal fabricator at Interbay.
